Hosting and visitor counts

The site runs on Vercel. Vercel processes your IP address to deliver the pages and keeps technical logs for a short time. Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights count page views and measure load times without cookies and without following you to other sites.

The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running the site securely and knowing which pages people read. Read more in Vercel's privacy policy.

Analytics cookies

I use Google Analytics to see how people find and use the site. It only runs if you click Accept in the cookie bar. Google then sets two cookies:

  • _ga tells one visitor from another. It is kept for up to two years.
  • _ga_NG7ZCC72S4 keeps one visit together. It is kept for up to two years.

Google collects page views, device and browser type, approximate location and the page you came from. Google Ireland Limited processes the data for me. The data can be transferred to the USA. Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Read more in Google's privacy policy.

Google keeps the data for up to 14 months. The legal basis is your consent.

What your browser stores

  • Your cookie choice, the word accepted or declined, in localStorage, so the bar does not ask again.
  • Your choice of light or dark theme, in localStorage.
  • Your conversation with Henry and a random chat ID, in sessionStorage. They are deleted when you close the tab.

Your cookie and theme choices stay in your browser. The chat is sent each time you write, as described below. The fonts are hosted on this site, so no font service sees your visit.

Henry, the chat

Henry is an AI assistant that answers questions about me and my work. Each time you write, your browser sends the last ten messages, the page you are on and the random chat ID to my server. My server passes the messages and a short description of the page to Ollama, Inc., which runs the language model. Ollama can process the messages in the USA. Ollama states that it does not keep the content after it has answered and does not use it to train models. Read more in Ollama's privacy policy.

My server does not save the conversation. It keeps your IP address in its working memory to limit how many messages one visitor can send. It is never written to disk and is cleared when the server restarts. Please do not write sensitive personal data in the chat.

The legal basis is my legitimate interest in answering questions from visitors.

When you ask me to get in touch

When a conversation mentions things like a project, a budget or an email address, the same AI reads it once more to note the type of project, budget, timeline and whether you asked to be contacted. If you also gave your email address and asked me to contact you, I get a lead. It holds your email address, the last twelve messages, the AI's short summary and notes, the page you were on and the chat ID. Without both an email address and a clear request, nothing is sent and the notes are discarded.

The lead goes to my own system for follow-up and is not shared with anyone else. I delete it twelve months after our last contact if no work comes of it.

The legal basis is that you asked me to contact you before a possible agreement.

YouTube videos

Some blog posts contain a YouTube video. Nothing loads from YouTube until you click play. The video then plays from youtube-nocookie.com, and Google can set cookies and collect data about the viewing. Clicking play is your choice to load it.

Change your choice

You can withdraw your consent at any time. Click the button below and the Google Analytics cookies are deleted. What was collected before you withdrew is not affected.

Your rights

You have the right to know what data I have about you. You can ask me to correct or delete it, or to restrict how it is used. You have the right to get data you gave with consent or for an agreement in a machine-readable format. You can object to processing that is based on legitimate interest. Data in Google Analytics is not linked to your name, so I usually cannot find yours.

You can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, IMY.
